Here, I not only share my personal thoughts and feelings, which are all over the place, by the way, but I also share many obstacles I’ve overcome and still battle.

Writing helps me make sense of it all. In the words of Flannery O’Connor, “I write because I don’t know what I think until I read what I say.”

I became a teenage mother of 2 boys and married by the age of 19. Talk about obstacles! I was so lost at the time. I had hardly learned how to care of myself and yet, I was attempting to take care of a family. It was a very tough time. I mean I can hardly even remember a time when I felt at peace. I was beyond stressed.

THE LESSONS OF LIFE ARE FOUND IN THE JOURNEY

Life doesn’t come with instructions, but it provides many, many learning opportunities. It was during the difficult times that I learned from my mistakes and learned so much about myself.

School only taught me basic reading, writing, and arithmetics. Everything else I learned, not from a classroom, but from the school of life. It’s a hard knocks life as the saying goes.

EMBRACE THE SUCK

Armed with lessons from life and by educating myself through books, I learned how to cope with life and learned that the difficulties we face help us to grow. I no longer try to outrun or numb myself to avoid my problems. I face them head on. Are there times that l get a little lost here and there? Of course, but I’ve learned how to pick myself up and keep going.

THE TRUTH IS I JUST WANT TO LAUGH FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE

I don’t want to JUST drift through life. NO, I desire more joy, peace of mind, closer relationships, and I want to laugh along the way.

But in order to create those conditions for myself, I have to constantly work on me. To have more joy, I have to be joyful, to have more peace,  be peaceful. Love…become love. I have to become the change I want to see since change happens from the inside out.

I hope by sharing my thoughts, it inspires you to grow, to become more peaceful, to laugh. Let’s go on a journey, filled with all the love and laughter we can muster up.
